Dear Readers,

“If you ever find yourself in the wrong story….leave.” – Mo Willems

If there was an anthem for the past 365 days for Mallory and myself, this would be it. And while we haven’t posted in over a year, we came back to our blog time and time again as a project we wanted to fine tune and make sure we were doing right. We want to be truly catering to our readers by giving you all great content, but that was difficult to do when we weren’t necessarily…happy.

Our first blog name, Ice Queens was an accurate reflection of the survival tactic Mallory and I took to get to where we are today.

For me it was to survive my senior year of college and graduate with a BA in

Public Relations from Drake University and my first year in the real world where I staggered through two jobs before finding my way to Semester at Sea where I currently work as a Marketing, Communications and Social Media Specialist. Oh and I have a dog. Named Minnie. I am obsessed with her.

For Mallory this was toughing out her final days at Fort Lewis College before taking the leap of faith and starting over at Colorado State University and switching her major not once but twice while juggling four (I repeat, FOUR) jobs before finding an amazing opportunity as a Merchandise Intern for Triple Crown Sports and settling into a career path towards Product Development.

But a year ago we didn’t know this was going to happen. We had no clue what was about to take place and the journey we were about to embark on to get to where we are today. And
we coined the ambiguous future back then as “Paradise”.

Paradise was a full-time job.

Paradise was a major to be passionate about.

Paradise was moving out of the Midwest and small mountain towns.

Paradise was finding an apartment together in our hometown.

And not only has all of this come to pass but on our way to each step of Paradise it became clearer that the definition changed and evolved. What meant happiness last month was different this month. And there was absolutely nothing wrong with that because it meant we weren’t standing still.

The Pursuit of Paradise became our blog name because like our lives, we wanted to create a blog that could evolve and change as we saw fit and we wanted to invite you, our dear readers, family and friends along for the ride.

So whether Paradise is a fab new beauty product, recipe we can’t get enough of, life update we want to fill you in on or wardrobe staple you can’t live without – the Pursuit of Paradise will be just that: a blog curated by two best friends who want to help you create the best you – to find your Paradise. Stay tuned!

Xo,

Kel
